Naxos was incorporated as a proprietary limited company on the 11th May 1934. It was established as an abrasive grit company by a Greek migrant named Mr. Louis Kambis. Naxos was elected as a full member of Australian Business Limited in February 1940. As a sales manager working for Mr. Louis Kambis, Mr. Edgar Francis Green took over the reign of Naxos in 1954 after the passing away of the first owner. Mr. Green ran the company for 50years as managing director.
During this period, Mr. Green successfully established the company as a major player in the abrasive field in Australia, having a branch in Sydney and Brisbane. The company imports abrasive grit, manufactures grinding wheels and converts abrasive belts and sanding discs. The company achieved Quality Assured Supplier Status AS/NZS ISO9002 in 1994. Naxos has been a member of Australasian Institute of Metal Finishing.
