15/10/1944. RAF bomb ruthlessly the castle of Naxos island,Greece, where German soldiers were blocked and refused to surrender. The castle was besieged by soldiers of the Greek Sacred Sauadron and local resistance organizations. A German soldier was killed in the bombardment, while during the battle a man of the Greek Sacred Squadron (N. Binikos) and a high school student G. Vallindras were killed. After the bombing, the Germans surrendered to the Greek Sacred Squadron and Naxos island was liberated on October 15, 1944.
